We are talking about ‘INS Khukri Memorial’, located on the Diu Island of the Union Territory of Daman and Diu, which has been beautifully made by the Diu Administration.
This place reminds us of the sacrifice of our Navy, which has a very important place in the history of our country. The INS Khukri Memorial is a memorial site to an Indian Navy ship, INS Khukri, which was one of India’s historic naval ships.

The warship was hit by three torpedoes fired by a naval ship Pakistani submarine on 9 December 1971 and sank 40 nautical miles off the coast of Diu.

Atop a small hill stands a memorial with a little model of INS Khukri in a glass box. The names of all the officers and sailors who served on the ship are written on the same glass.
One day, during a sacrifice for the nation’s pride, INS Khukri and its crew of 18 officers and 176 sailors perished. Their names are on display above the memorial and near the entrance. Visit this special place to pay your respects to these courageous heroes.
The memorial is located near Chakratirth beach in Diu city. It offers a beautiful view of the sea from a raised platform and can accommodate many visitors. You can easily reach the top with a car for a small fee.
